Sonys new 40 inch TV is only 9 mm thick

Sony Japan’s ZX1 series 40-inch display is only 9.9mm thick at its narrowest, and 26 pounds. The display itself has only 1 HDMI port, while a wireless box can send the 120Hz, 1080p display up to 1080i images over a 5GHz channel many suspect is WHDM. That external port box will have 3 HDMI, 2 component, s-video, VGA, and even USB, mouse, and LAN port. All menus will be driven through an XMB Playstation-style crossmedia interface.

The iPhone Dev Team iPhone hacking group released their PwnageTool 2.0 unlocking and jailbreaking tool for iPhone Software update 2.0.

As reported the PwnageTool 2.0 is not able to unlock the iPhone 3G, just jailbreak it.
PwnageTool 2.0 unlocks though the old iPhone with the new firmware 2.0.

the iPhone Dev Team site has links to several mirrors to download the PwnageTool 2.0.
There is no word yet when the group releases a version of PwnageTool that will also unlock the iPhone 3G.

Recycling From The Rich To Feed The Poor

Recently on the news in the United Kingdom, there was a stories about people stealing drain covers and weighing them in for scrap, now i am in no way or form agreeing with what they did, or saying that it is right , but lets look at the facts here, this is not only happening in the United kingdom , but it is a world wide thing everyone is looking at ways of making easy and fast money. This is a fact.
The way i see it is this , Governments make the councils pay for more covers , these people steal them to feed their families, recycling at its best , i mean we are the ones who pay for them in the first place with the ever increasing taxes, i am also not very political and do not really care to much about all the arguing and fighting over votes etc. But what i do see is Wars that do not need to be fought and tax payers money going on arms and the ever increasing battle for oil.Maybe now here is just a thought, just maybe if the Government actually took a good look at this situation and realised that these people only steal ,because everything is taxed so much to pay for irrelevant causes, if they decreased it a little and give people a little more money to spend they would not need to steal to feed their families in the first place.Hey at least its green what these thieves are doing the government may lose a little cash but at least the enviroment is being saved.

VIRGIN MEDIA SAY THEY WILL NOT CUT OFF FILE SHARERS

Following a backlash to today’s news that Virgin Media has been sending out warning letters to 800 identified file-sharers, a company spokesman has stated that this is not a prelude to the ISP cutting off offenders’ internet connections.

As reported earlier, the letters being sent out have a warning on the envelope that reads: “Important. If you don’t read this, your broadband could be disconnected”. Clearly you’re reading that wrong though because Virgin isn’t actually going to disconnect you.

“We don’t make any kind of accusation about the user — it could be somebody else in their house, their block of flats or they might have an open Wi-Fi connection,” the spokesman told The Guardian this morning.

Virgin also reiterated that its plan is to educate users about what is kosher on the web and asserts that it’s not “pointing the finger at the account holder”. Interestingly though, the letters sent out include a message from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) which is backing the notion of giving dodgy users a series of warnings before cutting off their internet connection.

Naturally, that idea hasn’t been welcomed by anyone except the music industry. This morning’s back peddling by Virgin points to a potentially very exciting showdown between ISPs and music industry bodies. No one is loving Virgin’s Orwellian approach and it will clearly alienate consumers. With the company already getting bad publicity from its questionable adverts, maybe it will start to think seriously about sticking up for its customers for a change.

For simple movie making, just Flip it
Flip Ultra camcorder

If you’re after a simple camcorder, check out the Flip

After taking America by storm, the Flip camcorder series has arrived on UK shores promising to make taking and uploading videos as effortless as possible.

Stripped to the bare minimum of buttons, this isn’t a camcorder for anyone looking for a range of specifications and features. But if you’re after a simple to use, inexpensive camcorder, have a look at our First look.

Panasonic has been producing a lot of great camcorders over the past few years, and two of its most recent High Definition models are no exceptions.

The Panasonic HDC-HS9 is a great choice if you’re after a hard disk model, whereas if you want to spend a little less, the very similar memory card only model HDC-SD9 is worth looking at.

They may be cheaper and smaller than their grown up counterparts, but mini laptops are certainly not toys.

We’ve got our hands on four popular varieties and given them a onceover to see how they measure up.

With two running on the Linux operating system, one operating with Vista and the fourth using XP, we’ve carefully selected models with specifications that will interest all users and cater for most everyday office and home requirements.

New iPhone 3G: Better, faster, cheaper
3G iphone

The latest incarnation of Apple’s iconic iPhone

The long-awaited second-generation Apple iPhone promises faster downloads on the 3G network, GPS to help you get un-lost, and a more tempting price.

We’ll test the curvy iPhone 3G when it goes on sale on July 11, but our initial impression is that it may be a worthy upgrade.

It still has a stunning touchscreen and combines a phone, iPod, web browser and organiser in one device. But it now also makes browsing the internet less painfully slow, offers new software to download and double the battery life.

The 8GB iPhone 3G will be cheaper than the previous model at £99 on £30 mobile tariffs through mobile network O2 and for sale at Carphone Warehouse, and free on some more expensive tariffs.

Cook a roast in less than 30 minutes
LG Solar Cube

Halogen helps the Solar Cube cook

The LG SolarCube is a freestanding, all-in-one oven which is slightly bigger than a microwave but can be used as a convection oven, microwave and grill or to speed cook - and it uses halogen lights along with the other cooking elements.

LG claims the speed cook mode saves energy by cooking up to four-times faster, and produces nutritious meals due to the speed of cooking.

And indeed we witnessed the SolarCube impressively cook a roast chicken in less than 30 minutes - it smelled delicious while cooking and didn’t taste too bad either.

Car Boot Sale

Well summer is here again and all the car boots are springing up every weekend , my Wife loves them shes seems to go to everyone, anyway i tag along to one or two give her some moral support.
Now the way i think is how can i crawl the money back she spends on these car boots , now do not get me wrong when i say this i am no miser ,but my wife view is a bargain is a bargain, she does not see that once she buys 20 items for £1 which i may add they usually are rubbish what she buys then its £20, ITS NO LONGER A BARGAIN!!!!
Anyhow i am missing the point of these car boots ,as i am walking around them in the searing heat my skin burning and no refreshments, the only form of liquid found are the ones on the burger stalls at £1 for a small can of coke, or you can buy a small burger for £3.50 , i am now thinking that is what i need ,these guys only work one day a week, profit on these burger vans must be great.
I just find it strange why people buy rubbish, I have even tried it out myself , i held a stall at one of these car boots, I paid for my van to go in £20.00 for a van and £10 for a car thats before you start to sell stuff, plus i added the £10 fuel for driving there,so i am now £30 down, a van full of rubbish thinking i could have gone to the tip and it would only cost me £2.
Eventually i get into the car boot after waiting for 2 hours on the road ,this is another thing everybody sets off in the middle of the night and waits outside for hours so they can get a good spot strange???
I started to set up my stall and i had a mixture of goods some good stuff and the rest was rubbish,as i am setting up there are people coming over ,Hi have you got any gold? Or Hi have you got any mobile phones ? I say go away i am busy ,eventually i get set up after fighting everyone off trying to buy from me before i am ready.
So i am ready to sell, customers come in and buy all my rubbish, this is a fact i sat on this stall for 3 hours selling all my rubbish, the good stuff did not sell, in the mean time my wife is away on the same car boot buying rubbish from other stalls to take home with us ,can never figure out why people do these car boots, maybe they should rename them to rubbish sales or something like it.
I did not do to bad at the end of the day i made £60 profit for selling my junk, maybe ill do another.

Analysts: New International Deals Mean Apple Will Exceed Its 10M iPhone Goal

While Apple followers feverishly speculate about release dates and form factors for the new 3-G iPhone, the Cupertino company continues to quietly add to its confirmed stable of international iPhone carriers.

Over the past two weeks alone, Apple has inked new deals with wireless carriers in Asia, India, Italy, Australia, Singapore and Canada. What’s truly interesting, however, is that some of these agreements are non-exclusive, meaning the iPhone will soon be available through multiple carriers in countries such as Italy and Australia.

That’s a profound shift from Apple’s standard MO, which generally entails selecting the largest provider in a given country and then selling the iPhone exclusively through that one channel — and of course demanding a cut of the profits along the way. But with these new non-exclusive deals, some analysts say Apple is finally realizing its traditional business model just won’t work on a global scale. Moreover, there are actually benefits to being doing away with exclusively.

By opening up to the idea of working with multiple carriers in a given country, Apple could actually do much more to squelch the international iPhone unlocking business, says IDC senior mobile analyst Chris Hazelton, and at at the same time ensure it meets (and even exceeds) its well-established goal of selling 10 million iPhones by the end of the year.

The fact that these carriers will now undoubtedly be selling a 3-G iPhone also doesn’t hurt.

“It may be that these agreements are now coming so fast and furious because Apple wasn’t really in a position to demand revenue share in the past,” says IDC senior mobile analyst Chris Hazelton.

Aside from the fact the revenue sharing is not a custom many international carriers are used to, Hazelton notes some of the original delay to such international iPhone agreements may have come down to the device’s distinct lack of 3-G.

“The original launch of the iPhone here in the U.S. was amazing,” Hazelton says. “It was much less than amazing in Europe; and that’s largely because of the device wasn’t 3-G capable.”

With a new speedier version of the phone on the horizon both here in the U.S. and abroad, Apple is likely finding it much easier to deal with international carriers based on the fact that they can now sell a device that consumers want and expect.

In an investor note on Monday, American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu even said these new deals could end more than tripling Apple’s wireless subscriber opportunity from about 150 million potential customers today to approximately 470 million by the time the handset maker unveils its 3-G iPhone.

Wu says the cumulative effect on iPhone shipments by the end of 2008 will be an increase of more than 4.5 million to 14.6 million.

HIP POP

April 28, 2008 –

‘WHEN in doubt, wear Jordans,” says 17-year-old Teyana Taylor, pointing down to her tiny feet. Genius out of the mouth of babes.

Teyana Photo Gallery

You may not know who she is, but just “Google Me,” the title of her popular Internet single.

The good life is coming - Taylor recently moved out of Harlem and into a Trump property in Westchester - but Pharrell Williams’ pretty protege prides herself on keeping it real.

“I wear a lot of Hell’s Belles, Diesel and a lot of Billionaire Boys Club,” says Taylor,.

“Jeans, Jordans and a hat. It really don’t matter about the brand as long as they fit cute.”

Taylor is equal parts skater girl and Harlem princess with a twist of tomboy: Taverniti jeans, American Apparel hoodie, Cavalli necklace under a $5 boombox chain from girlprops.com and Jordans (duh).

She says her style is influenced by the streets of Harlem.

“If someone know they look fly, they’ll catwalk down the street because the street of Harlem is like a runway,” she says.

Which explains why she put on a show at the neighborhood’s House of Hoops (268 W. 125 St.; 212-316-1667) - THE source for sneakers.

Taylor’s album “From a Planet Called Harlem” (Star Trak/Interscope) is out June 17

STREET BEAT CHIC

April 28, 2008 — ALISON Mosshart is the American half of the Kills (the other half is Jamie Hince, trailed by paparazzo as Kate Moss’s current squeeze). The Kills get sweaty at Webster Hall Thursday in support of their new release “Midnight Boom.”

What do you wear onstage? “I tend to wear things I’m not going to destroy in one evening, and boots I can stand in. I’ve never worn a pair of high heels or a skirt. It’s more Iggy Pop and dirty knees, sweat and blood - and more sweat.”

Do you like to shop? “I love vintage shops, thrift stores, middle of America. Hysteric Glamour in Tokyo, April 77 in Paris, friends’ closets. I don’t often have any time to go shopping. Most of my shopping takes place at gas stations and drug stores, cigarettes and shampoo . . .”

Who are your style icons? “Skateboarders when they were into punk, in the early ’90s, and of course Debbie Harry, Iggy Pop, the Velvets, Patti Smith, Edie Sedgwick, New York artists in the ’70s. But I love the colors and the textures of ‘El Topo’ bandits. I’d like to dress like a Don Van Vliet painting.”

What place does fashion have in music? “For me it’s the whole thing that moves me - the attitude, the look and the sound. When I was a kid, I chose records at the record store by looking at the sleeve. If the band looked ‘cool’ to me, I bought the record . . . And back then, 90 percent of the time, the music was as good as I figured it would be . . .”

What differences have you noticed, fashion-wise, between New York and London? “New York is tougher. And also a little more creative on the street level.”

Just a few days ago the launch of a new projection system for mobile devices by Microvision and now here’s 3M with a fully operation projection device that can be implanted into any mobile phone. Sweet.

The LED-based device is less than half an inch thick and roughly the same size as a wireless earpiece. Despite this, 3M claims that it is capable of VGA resolution images and unlike certain other tiny projection technologies, it is available today. Texas Instruments showed it’s own Pico Projector in action here a few months back.

3M claims that its wee projector is capable of firing out a 40in, or larger, image with “no-speckle and a high-fill factor that ensures superior image quality”.

“3M mobile projection engines achieve the size, efficiency, image quality and affordability needed for consumer adoption of this promising new product category,” said Mike Kelly, executive vice president, 3M Display and Graphics Business.
